چکیده
1,9-Diamino-5-azanonane (1, H2N(CH2)4NH(CH2)4NH2), symmetrical “homospermidine,” previously unreported in nature, has now been discovered in sandal (Santalum album L.), where it comprises 0.5-1.5% of the weight of the dried leaves. The new polyamine is conveniently isolated from an aqueous extract of the leaves by ion-exchange 1^) uring a routine examination of the amino acids from an ethanolic extract of the leaves of the sandalwood tree, a prominent ninhydrin-positive spot (spot 5 in Figure 1), hitherto unrecognized, was observed in two-dimensional chromatograms. However, when an aqueous extract was examined, which had been desalted on a column of Dowex 50 (H+ form) by elution with 1.0 n ammonia, this spot was absent in otherwise unchanged chromatograms. The unknown, strongly basic compound could be eluted with 1.0 m piperidine. Repetition of this procedure afforded a chromatographically homogeneous product whose characterization as sym-homospermidine forms the subject of this paper.

Distribution and Metabolism of sym-Homospermidine and Canavalmine in the Sword Bean Canavalia gladiata cv Shironata.
The unusual polyamines, sym-homospermidine (homoSPD) and canavalmine (CAN), were found in the seed of Canavalia species such as C. gladiata, C. ensiformis, and C. brasilensis, but not in those of other leguminous crops. To examine the distribution and metabolism of homoSPD and CAN in sword bean, C. gladiata cv Shironata, polyamine analysis was carried out throughout the life cycle of this plant...

A yellow-pigmented, Gram-reaction-negative bacterium isolated from a human clinical source was investigated using a polyphasic approach in order to clarify its taxonomic status. Comparative 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that the new isolate constituted a distinct phyletic line within the genus Chryseobacterium, displaying >2.8 % sequence divergence with recognized species of this genus...
متن کاملAlternative spermidine biosynthetic route is critical for growth of Campylobacter jejuni and is the dominant polyamine pathway in human gut microbiota.
The availability of fully sequenced bacterial genomes has revealed that many species known to synthesize the polyamine spermidine lack the spermidine biosynthetic enzymes S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase and spermidine synthase. We found that such species possess orthologues of the sym-norspermidine biosynthetic enzymes carboxynorspermidine dehydrogenase and carboxynorspermidine decarboxylase...

Homospermidine synthase (HSS) catalyses the formation of the polyamine homospermidine from 2 mol of putrescine. The general and kinetic properties of purified HSS from Rhodopseudomonas viridis are given and compared with those of the respective enzymes from other sources. The R. viridis enzyme is shown to catalyse a number of side reactions: (I) In the presence of putrescine or spermidine as do...
